As the name implies, The Alien Quadrilogy is a 9-disc boxed set of the four films in the "Alien" franchise, with each film available in two different versions.
You'll get the first "Alien" film in its original theatrical version, plus the new director's cut released to theatres in 2003. "Aliens," the second film, is available on DVD for the very first time in its original theatrical version in this set; you'll also get director James Cameron's previously-released "Special Edition."
The theatrical release cut of "Alien 3" is also included, as well as a new version that adds thirty minutes not seen elsewhere. This is a cut of the film that has been produced by the home video division of Fox, and that's evidently never been done before, by any studio. "Alien Resurrection," the fourth film in the series, is available in it's original theatrical version, plus an extended version featuring alternate opening and closing scenes.
Extras include an incredible 40 featurettes and 45 hours of bonus material, including Sigourney Weaver's screen test. Each of the films will also be available separately on January 6, 2004 in two-disc special editions at a suggested retail price of $26.98 each. Frankly, the "Quadrilogy" boxed set - available now at an SRP of $99.98 - is a much better deal.
